Overheard in the Dept. of Finance

Is this Ollie guy Irish or something?

His general attitude seems to be " Ah sure you'll be grand - don't worry about it"

SAD NEWS just in from Our Lady of the Eurozone Hospital: After a sudden
worsening in her condition, the Irish Patient, formerly known as the Irish
Republic, has been moved into intensive care and put on artificial ventilation.
While a hospital spokesman, Jean-Claude Trichet, tried to sound upbeat, there is
no prospect that the Patient will recover.

It will be remembered that, after a lengthy period of poverty following her
acrimonious divorce from her English partner, in the 1990s Ireland succeeded in
turning her life around, educating herself, and holding down a steady job.

I don't know if Her European relatives are grieving or really care but I feel her immediate relatives don't know what to do and are waiting for something to turn up.

In a way she brought about her own sad situation when she jumped into bed with a cunning and devious man who wined and dined her. Little did she know that this man made love to all around him . We knew that he went from the bed of the bearded ladies who worked in Sipto to the mannequins of Dublin Castle. Unfortunately ,he did not wear any protection and the rest is history

Interesting that Joan Burton asked

"How many members of the staff of the commission are in the department on a temporary or daily basis overseeing Irish budgetary and financial matters?"

and the response was

"Neither the European Central Bank nor the commission has staff permanently attached or permanently present in my department and there is no permanent facility for their accommodation in my department."
