buying ebooks

Quick Friday question..

Trying to buy the new John Grisham book, The confession, on ebook for the sony reader. My god its like pulling teeth trying to figure out whats going wrong and I'd say I'm pretty computer savvy but its just not working!

The sony ebook website advertises the book but it keeps telling me I need to download the reader software, which I've done. I've also authorised the adobe drm so thats not the issue.

I wonder is it only availbe to download in the US? Its so frustrating, surely this should be simple! I have downloaded many free ebooks before with no difficulty...

Please help!

Ok so after more reading I discover that it is actually geographical restriction. So now the question become how can I buy it from the american site when I don't have an american credit card?

They don't accept paypal either, so would welcome any other suggestions...?

They might have different licencing agreements that prevent them from selling in Europe.

A credit card should work worldwide? Are they looking for a US address maybe.

Hmmm...
Just got an idea for a niche market.. Create a company that can take payment from you and buy the product on your behalf using their US address..

Yes, the credit card payment screen only allows you to enter a credit card addres from either canada or usa.

Such a disaster, I could go into town and buy the book in less than ten minutes, but why should I when I bought a perfectly good ereader! and given that the book is released in the US and UK at the same time, restrictions seem stupid! And more annoying, I could buy it today using the kindle, but not the sony reader, from Amazon. Its just so frustrating.......
