Cheap eats in Dublin

Anyone recommend some nice restaurant that has a cheapish but nice menu- for Saturday night in Dublin. Anywhere! Thanks

I suppose its relative, depends on what you want.
I can tell you, as far as im concerned, fallon and byrnes meat counter, 20 day hung strip sirlion is the best steak on the planet and comes in at about 7-10 euro.

Mouth watering and rather than spend 20-60 in a restaurant, take it home and have a barbeque while the summer is still here

Maybe I am the only one not mad about tenors and do not think it is that cheap either.

We have one in Naas. Went for a meal for 2 last year. Starter at 5 was good (chicken wings) but friend had some kind of goats cheese tart, luke warm and soggy pastry. Friend got steak at 18 and then veg were 3 each for 4 for 10.

Again you finished paying your 3 courses were over 30.

A nearby french bistro has a set menu for 29 and the quality is far superior.

Our meal was luke warm, "cook by numbers" stuff and I would not be in a mad rush back.

Quality somewhat mixed. But difficult to beat on price.

This is the old Courtyard ......... haven't been for a while, but the Tenors menu looks tempting. Will try it today for the brunch and will report back:)

Went to the Courtyard recently and had the goats cheese tartlet and lots of salads, the food was excellent and it was more than reasonably priced, staff were lovely as well.

I would really avoid menupages if I were you. Long thread on boards.ie about it: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055397739 (worth reading, especially the bit where menupages join in and are caught lying!!)

My personal recommendation is FXBs. They have a value menu for either 25 or 29 and it is three beautiful courses. Typically I might get something like this:

Starter: duck liver pate + brioche
Main: steak (best steak I've ever had)
Dessert: chocolate pudding

I reckon I've eaten everywhere in Dublin and FXBs is by far the best value, and possibly one of the best places for quality, tasty food.

Yeah thats a good spot alright. Kinda feels like a college canteen or something similar but its very nice, taste and pricewise

The Francisicans on Merchants Quay do a nice meal and goody bag for the day.
