Hi all

I am startign a new business and need to get 6 of these packages. I have looked at just the licence but they are still the same price. I got a copy some months back for €129 form [broken link removed] - but that site is now no longer available. Everywhere else it is for sale at about €380.

As I have to get 6 I am trying to be cost consious - anyone know where I might be able to get them,?

Thanks

Are you an IT company? you might look into the Microsoft Partnership program, good for the US and Canada, you'll have to check on Ireland. Basically you get 10 lisences of pretty much everything Microsoft make for an annual subscription of about $380.

yep, 10 seats of office 2010, 10 seats of Win 7 etc. etc. You need to qualify though.

The only thing is those liocences are for use on a network I think aren't they. These need to be stand alone as they are for sales laptops

They are not network lisences, they are stand alone, it's about the best deal going, and legal for business use, not like the training ones. You cannot use those to run your business!

I vaguely remember readsin somewhere recently that the pricing for the next version of Office is going to be far cheaper - apparently Google Docs is making inroads in the corporate market.

As said above, Openoffice will take care of most of your needs for free.

Office 2010 is more user friendly than 2007. It incorporates what's best of 2003 with 2007 - this is my opinion.

and its not cpmpatible with Office 2003 (i.e you lose footnote formating if you save in .doc format as opposed to .wps format

The .wps file-extension has to do with Microsoft Works documents. Micrsoft Works is a redundant product, but files can be converted by using a "works to word converter" available from Microsoft. I believe versions later than Office 2003 can't open these documents directly.
