I ask this as a 5ft 9in woman with size 8 feet.

I find a lot of trainers only go up to a size 7 or I don't like the ones I can find. I don't want a pair of white trainers with a pink trim thanks! All I want is a pair of plainish black shoes for walking in ( I walk to and from work most days plus 2 or 3 dog walks lasting around 20/30 mins each) and the only ones I can find that I like are "mens" trainers. I am not speed walking or running but obviously they need to be comfy if I am walking up to 2 & 1/2 hours a day in them.

I asked a staff member in a sports shop if there was any reason why I shouldn't wear men's trainers, her reply was not much use, something along the lines of "because those are men's shoes".

Is there any good reason why I shouldn't use the men's trainer or is it just another ploy to charge more for one over the other? ( most of the women's shoe seemed to be 15-20 euro more per pair)

mens shoes tend to be wider ---i think the soles are different as well... but as the saying goes, if the shoe fits....

I have a pair of black addias men trainers in a size 7 that I wear round the house and cycling. They are a bit wide though. I have a nike pair of tennis courts which have a gold trim so not too girly. You have to search in all the sports shops as a style is just sold in that shop.

That's settled then. I have found no physical reason why no so am off to buy a pair.

I have wide feet so the width thing won't bother me.

What do you expect for €8.65 an hour?

Those are large feet for a lady - I would think a big pair of men's runners would accentuate them?

I know:eek: Which is one of the reasons why I want plain black ones to blend in with my jeans or black pants!

If a pair of size 8 feet were detached from a body, then, as far as I know, few if any medical or forensic experts could tell the difference between male and female

The nail varnish might give it away....(or maybe not)

Surely a well fitting pair of runners aren't going to do much to accentuate anything. There are "big" looking womens and mens runners, its all down to styling.

I should know, similiar to the OP, I'm 6ft tall with size 7.5-8 shoes and have never been able to buy "womens" runners as it seems that womens runners tend to be a bit narrower. Have generally had no problem getting a neat looking mens runner. Both my sisters are also in the 7-8 shoe size bracket, really don't think its that unusual but then thats just my family :)

Hubbie on the other hand is a freak of nature standing at 6ft4 with size 8-9 shoes. (We've been known when rushing to get bins out to wear each others runners)
