Net Over Mountjoy

Just watched the evening news and apparently the authorities have made a startling discovery. They have placed a net over Mountjoy prison and to the surprise of all conserned it has reduced the amount of drugs being thrown over the wall . This NEWS was treated with the same gravitas as if they had discovered the third secret of Fatima. I hope for all our sakes thats not the "smart economy " we are waiting for. :confused:

Ya. I saw that. Was bizarre.
Surely this net idea would have been thought of Years ago.

And if not in mountjoy (although it's mind boggling how some guard wouldn't come up with this idea within10 seconds of seeing the problem) then by some other prison in the world where the guys in mountjoy could have nicked the idea

It was actually the kind of skit you'd see on some sketch show.

I thought they had nets for some time but that the dealers were cutting them or the quality of the net wasn't good enough to stop smaller packages coming through.
 
Didn't they put nets over Limerick prison years ago? I seem to remember the prisoners rioting that their private lives were being interfered with.

There is a new Governor in Mountjoy. Obviously the net idea could indeed have been done years ago but different Governors have different ideas. Having access to drugs helps prevent riots and keeps prisoners less aggressive and confrontational. I'm not saying that it is better to have drugs in prison or no net but just that there was a reason the previous Governor had no net and the new Governor obv doesn't hold the same view and hence the new net.
 
Must be terrible for the houseowners who live here constantly having people climb on their roof. Surely it would affect their insurance as it would damage the roof over time.
