Need to get a car I recently imported from UK serviced (2007 Audi A6 Avant)
I rang Sheehy Motors in Naas as I am currently based on a customers site not far from there to arrange.

I was told that they could do the service no problem but that they wouldn't be able to stamp the service book as they are currently waiting on their license renewal from Audi..............??

Does this sound dodgy?
Didn't go ahead with the booking because of this as the car has a full Audi service history as it is and a lot of what you pay the main dealer for is the stamp anyway!!

No, heard a roumor that Audi are centralising all dealerships to 8 across country, got this from sales guy in another VW garage and past Audi dealership. There will be 3 for Dublin, South Dublin (sandyford) North Dub (Finglas) and ballsbridge. Not sure how this works for the rest fo country but that would leave only 5 remaining. Far as I know they are all changing by end of year.

Out of interest - what price did you get the A6 Avant imported for? I was considering exactly the same model

All in cost was just under €18K.
This includes conversion from £ to € and VRT.
What isn't included in this price is the flight to Heathrow and the ferry back from Holyhead and other expenses on the day.

I got mine from CarGiant in London
If you need any further info let me know

Could they not stamp it as themselves and not a Audi Dealer?

Yes, no problem stamping as themselves but cannot use Audi logo.

Spoke to North Dublin Audi and they confirmed that Audi are pulling out of the majority of their dealerships as mentioned by Hanners previously.

Don't think it's an issue really as it's the same garage with the same mechanics etc.

What is interesting though is that Sheehy's quoted 'roughly' €300 for the service while North Dublin Audi quoted €420!
........could the little logo cost €120????

I think that illustrates the "value" of a full dealer service history. At best is the same as a regular garage, though my experience its that its usually worse.

Dealerships charge a lot more than regular garages. Got quoted 1100 from a dealership versus 450 from a garage do the same job once. Car is 8 years old now and no problems so I dont see why anyone would go to a dealership unless you reall had to for some reason.

Two service & retail will be North and South Dublin, retail only will be ballsbridge. Originally there were fairly high costs to take up one of these, hence why Joe Duffy took up the North Dublin franchise, he now has BMW & Audi on opposite sides of dual carrageway! Not sure who has South Dublin but it aint Foster Motors!

I would reccommend the lads in MKW motors only 15 mins up the naas road towards Dublin from Sheehy's

Was in with them last night Keith was working on a S320 cdi that hadn't started in 2 years.

He mentioned it was with a big dealer on the BELGARD road that is no longer in business that left covers off and allowed a few ECU's to flood.

They are the official Bosch agent for Ireland.
They will service using OEM parts to keep warranties intact.

No connection to the business just a mate and happy cutomer.

My friend used to work for MDL before they lost the distribution of VW/Audi

I think you will find when all is out of the wash that MDL didn't lose the distribution of the said cars. I think you will find the contracts were sold back for a very very hefty lump of money.
