Ryanair treatment of passengers in Prestwick

Isn't it amazing that some member of staff didn't use a small bit of common sense & at least get passengers something to eat & drink - have they no cop on?

Aer Lingus have treated their customers is the exact same manner in the past and probably still do. How do I know? I was one who was stuck on the tarmac in Majorca for hours and was refused water, refused to leave my seat, was not allowed to remove shoes or seatbelt even though the plane was not moving. Eventually after several passengers complaining, staff allowed us to have some water.

Ryanair said that while the aircraft was on the ground passengers were allowed to use mobile phones and toilet facilities, but it added that as "per legal restrictions the bars on board remained closed".

If people are not prepared to fight against airport 'security', well they will just have to put up with it.

I don't think anyone should be forced to sit on a plane for 6 hours. Ryanair should have disembarked the passengers and allowed them back in to the terminal. The problem you will find is that Ryanair has no system in place to deal with this situation, they have collected the boarding passes and probably "binned" them when everyone was on the plane.

I flew with Aer Lingus to Malaga a few weeks ago. The plane is a Jumbo Airbus (?) that is used for transAtlantic flights. On the way over, we were given headphones for the little TVs that are installed in the seat in front of you.

However, on the return journey, the plane sat on the tarmac for almost 3 hours due to a NATO exercise being carried out by the Spanish military. No refreshments were offered but headphones were available at €5 a pop.

Everyone was so bored that they all dished out a fiver.

Far be it from me to defend Ryanair, but the duration of the delay was probably not known beforehand. If they knew they were going to be there for six hours, then maybe they would have offloaded all the passengers.

Would the passengers have thanked them if a six hour delay became an 18 hour delay because the plane missed an ATC slot?

What's this you say?

Ryanair once again gets the starring role in a huge theatre full of equally poor performers?

What a surprise...
