Not sure if this has been posted before but thought I would put this out there to let people know as I didn't when I got mine.

If you avail of the 10mths interest free on balance transfers with MBNA and you make any retail purchases after that you have to pay off the full balance transfer amount before you can pay off your retail purchases amount which is charged at a 14.9% APR.

Hope that makes sense.

So is it only the retail purchase that is charged at 14.9%? the BT is still at 0%?
Say you transferred 2k @0% and made a purchase for €100 is it only the €100 that is charged interest?

Didn't know that it was standard to TBH.

doubledab - You would have to pay off the €2000 before you could pay off the €100 and that €100 would be charged at a rate of 14.9% until you do. The €2000 would still be interest free.

I transferred my balance over back in Feb also, but I am afraid to use it to be honest for this reason. I've kept my 'cheaper' card for any purchases. And I'm just using the MBNA card to clear the balance without paying interest. Just hoping that I can transfer again from MBNA in December, because I doubt I will have it all paid by then!

having worked for them this is standard but if you had 2 offers its about paying both off before they end - best thing you can do at this stage is transferr it -

however if you ring and explain the issue loyalty may be able 2 move the amount into the 0% as a once off good will - depending on who you get but if you have have exceptional circumstances this shouldn't be an issue.

By any chance did you have a retail offer for 3 months?
