Just wondering if i am dreaming! First heard on the radio that there were loose swans on some motorway and then another radio station that loose deer were wandering on another road. It must be the heat. Why use the word "loose"?

The Whooper swans are on their way back to Iceland..
Maybe the road signs have misdirected them..

loose swans are a serious issue - not only they spread bird flu but think about the bird STD! and the deer are a loose folk anyway ..
zztop, if their programmed their gps : take me to a country in recession, where banks are going bust and take people's money with them, then ireland and iceland are not that difficult to confuse

Loose swans eh?

Kind of inevitable really. They have obviously finally realised the potential of that curvy sensuous neck then.

Aside from the worrying toe dip into beastiality by some, we're missing the obvious signs here. The animals are fleeing, just like in earthquakes and tsunamis, they know it's time to go. The dolphins will be next and then it's so long and thanks for all the fish. Or maybe they're just showing off because they don't have to get a passport.

Actually if they are fleeing it aint no bad thing. This could be the immigration the ESRI was talking about. Once the animals bugger off, think of all the money we'll save in conservation and upkeep. We can build roads where we want, cut down any forest we want, we'd have the place to ourselves.

Maybe OP mis-heard the radio broadcast. Was it some kind of feminist / girl-power protest lead by "loose wans and old dears"? Are Mary Kenny and Edna O'Brien on a spring-break from London by any chance?

Maybe they'll mate and we'll have Dwans

I loved that ad from the 80's Dwans Dwinks

On a more serious note, in standard english only 3 words begin with DW ( was watching The West Wing again last night) and without googling it what are they....

Yea, but it's snails in the Midlands that hold up road building and it will take years for them to make it to the coast.

Well, dwell and dwarf anyway (and variations thereof)

Am seriously considering cheating now...
