hi
E46, 220D 2003
I was having problem with my car, i was getting smoke smell inside, brought it to mechanic, i was told enigine mouniting needs to be replaced because, engine was vibrating too much and it broke the exhaust, got that repaired and it cost me 1100 euros, but after car had no power in first and 2nd gear and enigne started to vibrate more than before+it used all engine oil in one week, brought to mechanic and he told me that turbo is gone and it looks like it will cost me fortune to replace it.

any idea how much it would cost me.....

Good reference thread Frank.

At the end of the day the big flashy glass main dealer show rooms have to be paid for somehow therefore more times than not this is reflected in the service bill.

I go with a trusted independent too that has experience working on your type of car in question. This is invaluable.

Hi,

Had a failed BMW turbo 02 525D You can get a turbo from Gap turbos UK, hugely less than what I was quoted in Dublin.

Get a competent mechanic to fit it. You will have to send the old one back to Gap.

Not sure if covered here but make sure to change the crankcase breather.

Good luck
