HI, my folks who are quite old, have finally relented and agreed to getting a portable phone. While my dad can just about manage a mobile my mum has been known to try and use his mobile to change the channel on TV, so not exactly technically minded!

Can anyone recommend a very simple basic model of portable phone for them?

Thanks.

make sure you get one with big buttons and has the facilty to turn off after there are finished with it.. my mother had an awful habit of leaving the phone on after she was finished making / receiving a call...

Would you consider talking to the local Occupational Therapist? Sometimes, something like the new phone is part of a wider pattern of stuff that could make life in general easier for your parents. Of course, they may not need that, but its interesting what ideas a good OT can have about lifestyle aids.

I work with Older People. I recently purchased a very large phone set, consisting of two phones and base from Lidl. I use it for demonstrations to Older People. The buttons are very large and it seems perfect for the situation you need.
They all need to be put back every 48 hrs for recharging. Good Luck
