Hi I am heading to the US to sort out some business stuff soon.

A lot of people have said great bargains there on shopping for clothes etc.

Is this true what kind of stuff could I get cheaper than here. Are teh brand names cheaper Tommy H, seven etc.
 
bring your passport with you to the information desks and they will give you a book of discount vouchers for the stores because you are from overseas.

Where are you going and what kind of things are you interested in buying?

Do a search for outlet stores where you are going, and rent a car with a satnav!
 
i am going to florida and interested in buying some clothes. not interested in the hassle unless there is good value
 
There are bout 20 outlet locations in Florida alone - with about 3 in the Orlando area. They all have the main brands for sportswear, fashion, clothing, jewellery etc. I've just returned from there and found that many are starting pre Xmas sales (up to 75% off in many cases)! Try the Premier Outlets at the north end of International Drive in Orlando - don't go to the standard malls (Macys, Sears, Dillards, etc.) unless they're advertising really good stuff. You'll get amazing bargains at the outlets. Enjoy your trip, and the wonderful weather there.

Hi regvw.ive regularly bought clothes in NYC (pretty much yearly and then no shopping for the rest of the year!) and the different designers sizes can vary widely. i.e. a Tommy size 10 might fit but a DKNY size 10 is too small.

The general rule tho with US sizes are that they are a size smaller than here. So if you are a 12 in Ireland, you're a 10 in the US.
 
Try some Timberland boots from Footlocker and Levis jeans from various jean shops outside the city centre

The American sizes are 2 sizes smaller. If you wife is a size 12 she will be a size 8 in the US. Happy shopping you lucky person. We love the Florida Outlets and the Florida Mall. My hubby stocks up on his designer labels at a fraction of the price here.

That's right about the sizes. I agree about the outlets as well - they sell last years styles and have great sales. You need to be patient though - the outlets are massive in size and a full day should be set aside for the shopping so you won't be harrassed into thinking 'I've got to get something now'.
