If you want to argue about another posters choices then you have to post your own choices first (and “I don’t like any of them” is not good enough).

This is certainly a tough one!

Do you have to admire the politicians policies? For example, I would admire the likes of Thatcher and Hitler because they were good leaders. I wouldn't agree with their policies.

For Irish politicians, I admire Gerry Adams' intellect. That's about it.

Current ones? Jeez...

Always liked Mary O'Rourke for some reason. I like her ballsiness.
Like Pat Rabitte too for common sense (mostly)and articulate & humourous reasoning - even if he is a bit pompous IMO.

Caomhain O'Caolán (sp?) can be very slick sometimes.

Previously, I liked Ruari Quinn for vision, Dick Spring for relative integrity.

I like Mary Harney, seems tough as nails and to be honest she hasn't shied away from work at any time. She gets an awful lot of stick, but I thinkk alot of it is unwarranty and mis-directed.

I've always liked Pat Rabbitte, he always sounded reasonable and sensible

I'd have to give +1 for Pat. He's like the Spock of the dail. can always break things down into palatable chunks of logical reasoning. He's not into the bs and waffle of the majority of the others.

As for being pompus, I find that part of him amusing and not to be taken seriously, it's just obvious that when he speaks, he takes what he is saying very seriously, unlike the majority of the others in there.

I would have loved to see him as Toaiseach, not his party in power but just him in a position of authority.

I can't agree with you there. As an independant she should be out there fighting tooth and nail with the HSE to improve services and take control of the unions that wreck change and improvement in the health sector.
For me, and this is just my opinion, she personifies someone living it up on her position and not someone who should be a posterchild for health in general.

Fighting tooth and nail is all well and good, but it is a huge task and will take time. It is not an area that will be changed quickly or easily, but she does seem capable and always has been. If you wanted to live it up, you would do it in a far less demanding equally paid position.
Your final point is childish and she never put herself forward as a 'poster child' if she wanted to do that she would work 30hrs a week and get a great work life balance.

I really admire Mary Coughlan. I think she is doing a great job and this country would be down the pan without her.

Although I don't agree with many of his policies I do admire Leo Varadkar. Any man that can wind Bertie up is ok by me.
Mary Harney is another person I admire as I believe she is acting in the country's best interests. Same goes for Brian Lenihan. John Gormley, Conor Lenihan, Eamon Ryan are others.

Oh, and of course, Mary Coughlan. 100% agree with Liaconn. Great politician. I don't know where the country would be without her.:D

Since the HSE Mary Harney has taken a back seat, but we are paying the Mr Drumm €300K pa to run the HSE so that's who should be doing it.

Although that is a sweeping statement it, unfortunately, is true. But reading the earlier posts shows that, like marriage, there is someone for everyone.

Then you must love Joe Higgens. He really used to get under Bertie's skin.

Although I agree with virtually nothing Joe Higgins has ever said I do admire him as a policitician. He works hard for what he holds dear.

I cannot agree with Mary O'Rourke, what has she achieved? she always comes across tome as a daft old aunt! .Iwould agree with Pat Rabitte. There is not much toadmire about the current crop of politicians so would plump for Sean Lemass (with a fair smack of credit to TK Whittaker too)
