What is the point in these - Just wondering - as apart from teenage nonsense and persons feeling an obligation to tell us nothing about nothing - Is there any real purposes ... And as for business I can't see for the life of me how you could promote yourself on these - Say I was a reputable aerial erector - How would twitter promote my business life -- All comments welcome !!
 
It's funny you should post about twitter as I signed up this morning. Won't use it to tweet myself but will get news from others using it. Basically I see it as a very good news source for topics I am interested in.

I don't see a great deal of business use unless your business has ongoing offers that you want to promote. On that basis, it is good for restaurants, estate agents, nightclubs & bars etc. etc.
 
Its just another thing that has been supplied to us by the power that be to take our minds off the real issues in life.

People are easily amused these days too. That helps.
 
its pure pony is Twitter, I dont need to know who is doing what at a particular time. Whats wrong with CALLING people or even texting ? Hows about meet me for a pint or whatever is your fancy and talk FACE TO FACE. I always believed Irish people were good at making conversation
 
As I said earlier, I have just signed up to twitter. I am not using it for social interaction. I am certainly not using it to find out what type of coffee some celebrity is having. I am using it for feeds on business, politics and sport. Its very good for keeping me updated in a concise manner.

I am also using it to get tweets (I hate that word!) from local media about whats happening in my county. I don't see how any of that will stop me from picking up the phone and calling people.
 
Fair enough, but you must accept that the majority of people use it for much less practical reasons?

True. You can use it like a RSS feed for information or you can go to the dark side.

I wonder what Paris Hilton is doing today? :D
 
Signed up to it last year for the Local Elections through RTE. Found it very good then. Just use it mainly for getting news/offers/sport and watching the odd few celebrities.

They have brought a "retwittering" function where they send on "interesting" messages from other people. It is a bit of an annoyance as it tends to clog the screen. Not sure if you can block it.
