Worth signing on dole for one week?

Hi,
My fiance works in the construction industry (he is a contractor). He was told last week that there is no work for him this week so he has a weeks holidays. He is not with the company long enough (6/8 weeks) to get holiday pay. Is it worth him going into to sign on for the week? Or is he even entitled to anything. He worked for his previous company for 4 years before being let go.
He will get work next week as they are starting a new job.

I think he should sign on for his JB as he would be entitled to a few days pay and a credit for that week. Also if the new job did not start next week as planned he could continue on JB until it starts.
