What's the deal with PRSAs ?

Our small company are reviewing our existing group pension scheme and as part of this process have invited some competitors (in pension terms) to come in and pitch to us.

We were pitched a PRSA deal recently and of course the guy from the company was saying that PRSAs are the best thing since sliced bread, much better than pensions, more flexible, less hassle for the employer, etc . . .

Now, the cynic in me assumes he was saying this because he was going to get more commission from a PRSA sale than a pension sale, but is it possible that the case for PRSAs is as cut and dry as he makes out ? We haven't looked in much detail at PRSAs because we currently have a pension.

Is there anywhere out there on the web that gives an un-biased comparison of the nature of PRSAs and pensions ?

Thanks,

z

[broken link removed] seems to give a reasonable comparison of the two and mentions the key points that I'm aware of.
