What if sole beneficiary (spouse) destroys will?

What is the situation where a spouse who is the sole beneficiary to his deceased wifes estate as outlined in the will decides after her death to destroy her will because he does not want the named executor handling the estate?

The executor does not know he has been named.

The beneficiary has no children.

A copy of the will made 20 years ago resides in a solicitors safe in Dublin. Last contact with the firm of solicitors was 20 years ago.

My own view would be to discreetly advise the firm of solicitors of the conduct of the spouse and they should make a copy before handed out. A will is a document of last and final wishes. To do what the living spouse has done is immature and dishonest, and more importantly has proved they had little respect for their spouse.
