What happens NCB if you let insurance lapse?

My bike insurance is up in February, but just wondering what happenes if I let it lapse for a couple of months before renewing .

February is not the best month to be riding my bike ( have a car also), so why not let it lapse until april and then renew?
Is there some catch, like I lose my NCB or something?

I have to change insurers anyway as my current insurrer, Hib, are exiting motorbike insurance ( see other post on bike insurance)

NCB can stay valid for two years. You may have to sign some sort fo note to the new insurer just to confirm that you had no accident between time policy lapsed and time you are taking out policy.
