What steps are employers required to take legally to protect staff againts potential robbery.
Incident involved a small newsagents. Staff member working on their own.
Dont want to give too many details.
Are employers only required to take reasonable steps.
Employer did bring in someone before close to help normally.
No previous thefts/incidents.

Very difficult to answer as it crosses over with health and safety, legal areas of your business. I reckon a good insurance broker would give you some tips/advice.

If you're asking from an employees perspecive (reading between the lines here) then an employer must ensure the employees safety by taking reasonable precautions. Ask the 'man on the street' whats reasonable and you'll get an idea.
