I have an excess on my Home Insurance policy of €500 for water damage. Am I right to assume that this is water damage from leaking pipes/tanks etc?
I have noticed a water leak in my ceiling that appears to be coming from a problem with my roof/flashing.
I will be phoning the insurance company about this but I just wanted clarification beforehand in case I am fobbed off.

Would hold off on phoning.
1. Can you get a local roofer to look @it ,it might be small money to fix.
2. If it is not a major issue why risk losing your no claims bonus as I hear some car insurance companies hit you for even asking ! ,so maybe even house insurers may penalize for even asking! and l don,t trust insurers.

Careful here Tintagel, you don't have a leaking pipe or a leaking tank. As Leo says, we need the exact wording of the policy endorsement. Just because water is getting in through your roof/flashing does not automatically mean insurer pays out. You must maintain the property and if it is simply wear and tear, even lead deteriorates over time, you have no claim.
