Get the terms & conditions for your card and the relevant tariff of charges booklet. They should be more accurate/authoritative than speaking to somebody. The transaction charges outlined above look right for Cirrus/Maestro and the like and then the forex margin would be in addition to that. Didn't realise that it could be as high as 4% though!
