Using a credit card in US

Hi,

Some probably stupid questions follow!

1. If I put money on my credit card to use in the US, is the recommendation to use it as a credit card or use it to withdraw cash from ATM? I assume it's to use as a credit card but just wanted to double check in case I'm missing something!
2. If I put money on the card but don't spend it all, can I move it back into my current account when I return to Ireland?

Thanks, Triona

1. Preloading is usually done to withdraw at ATM. There is no point in preloading if you are using it as a credit card (except obviously you can spend more than the credit limit). Be aware some CC vendors dont cover the amount you preloaded if your CC is stolen and used. Also be aware some CC vendors change the cash advance fee at ATM even if your CC is in credit e.g. AIB, UB. BOI and PTSB dont

2. Usually not
