Hi ,

can you tell me what information does one need to give a Bank in the USA to carry out a Bank Transfer to a Bank in Ireland namely EBS. I have heard that an IBAN number and SWIFT number is needed, what are they and where can i get them. I have asked staff in the EBS and they looked at me as if i had two heads and did not have a clue what i was talking about , modern ireland eh. Can you tell me if i need anythink else and if i give these details to the bank in the USA, is there a security risk i.e. money being taken out from my EBS account.

Thanks , Jumper1

You should be able to do this with the IBAN. Perhaps you need the SWIFT and/or BIC in some cases but I seem to recall that they are derived from the IBAN anyway. Maybe not. Anyway your IBAN should be on any recent statement from a financial institution. The originating US institution should be able to tell you what they need to effect such a transfer.
