I am currently on a VHI International policy and switching to a domestic policy. VHI will allow continuity for my current status of zero years waiting period if I switch to a domestic policy with them.
For the purposes of continuity with waiting periods and given the current situation with private hospitals I am considering a domestic plan with less cover than I had previously on the international plan. For now, I am considering VHI 'Company Plan Starter' €916.66 including 16% age related loading factor.
Qu.1: Does anybody know if I chose a basic domestic plan from one of the other health insurance providers - will they take into account my zero years waiting period earned on VHI International?
Qu.2. When the private hospitals return to being run as such, I plan to upgrade to a higher level of cover. Can I upgrade at any time during the policy? or can I only upgrade at the time of renewal?
