Hi
I bought AIB & BOI shares roughly 18 months ago, when they had already halved in value. I spent 16 k (yes,.....I know), which was about 15% of my entire savings. Now I am 70% down on my initial investment, with the combined shares now worth a (volatile) 5K
I am well aware about crystallizing loses / losing capital gains allowances if I switch out of shares etc, but am worried about one or both shares being hit by the "complete nationalisation" iceberg.
Q: In order to reduce risk, but to allow for a chance to break even in even say 5 years or more, what would people kind of moving the money into an ISE ETF, less risky and chance of recovering most of the loss in the medium term? I am just a bit concerned around the charging strucure and cost of a crest account though
Any thoughts?
Are there other options?
