Hi I have been told, that when I retire on compulsory age of 60yrs Garda in 2022 I will. Have accrued 35 out of 40years pension contributions, this is a combination of accrued service, transfer of army service and purchased serviced. I joined present public service job in 1999 and so paying prsi A rate, having queried what my pension would be on retirement, I was expecting circa half pay rate, but received figures circa a quarter of pay, but with the proviso that I may be entitled to a supplementary pension, if anyone can help with this I would appreciate please.

Because you are paying class A, your work pension is integrated with your state pension.
So if you were on 50K and expecting a pension of 25K, that would be made up of approx 12K state pension and 13K work pension.
As your state pension won't be payable at 60, that is where the shortfall comes from.
The supplementary pension should cover you until you reach full retirement age.
