I'm thinking the mighty Quo could have a Number 1 with the reworking of their classic tune "Down down deeper the Dow". Press the link and sing along to cheer you up.

Anyone else have any suitable songs that can be re-written or are just perfect to sum up these miserable times, which need a lighter side??

Or what about some happy tunes to restore balance and karma - a la "Happy Talk" by Captain Sensible. Could make a double album..

Dirty Deeds, Done Exorbitantly Expensively (yeah, Dirt Cheap had a better ring to it)

My kids sing Amy Winehouse on the way to school ...

they tried to make me go to prefabs but I said no no no

Think Morrissey(Smiths)could be back in vogue.......

What Difference does it Make ?
Heaven Knows I am Miserable now
How Soon is Now?
Big Mouth Strikes Again
Panic
Girlfriend in a Coma
If a Double Decker bus

Money's Too Tight to Mention - Simply Red
I been laid off from work my rent is due
My kids all need brand new shoes
So I went to the bank to see what they could do
They said son looks like bad luck got a hold on you

Bears are winning 10 to 3

More uplifting songs please - The Darkside of the Album is packing to quickly.

Lovely Day - Bill Withers

Open a second page, sway and sing along

When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind

Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
... lovely day, lovely day, lovely day ...blah blah blah

And news as this thread develops becomes even more grim......

Uncertainty has now hit the Japanese banking sector. In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded. Sumo Bank has gone belly up. Bonsai Bank has announced plans to cut some of its branches. Yesterday, it was announched that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.
Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks. Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black. Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at the Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal......
