Statute Barred

Hi there

My understanding is that an unsecured debt after 6 years or no payment and no acknowledgment is statute barred in Ireland. Is this correct ?

If so, and a debt collection agency ie Intrum keeps ringing and leaving messages. Can this be stopped and are they wrong to be doing this ?

Why not? Easy enough to change a number, especially if it will 100% get the debt collection agency off your back.

Easy to ignore them if you know the number they are calling from. Not easy if the use a different number.

So you think someone can borrow money, totally refuse to acknowledge it for six years and walk away.... that would be a no.

Of course they can ring, so long as they continue to make every effort to collect the debt it is not statute barred. So ignore them all you like.
