Solicitor for less than 2K

Is it possible to get a Solcitor for less than 2,000 on a house purchase? (including VAT and outlays).
I am looking at buying a new house for 400K and am hoping to find a solicitor who charges a flat fee rather than a percentage of the cost preferably in the Cork area ... but I suppose it does not matter where the Solicitor is based right?

There are plenty of solicitors who charge flat fees. I'm sure someone will be able to recommend one in the Cork area. Have you used the search facility to see of one has been recommended before?

Remember-cheaper does not always equal better value.
