Thinking of buying a solid fuel stove with a soap stone finish, the make is a Romptop Stromboli. In general what are the advantages/disadvantages of soapstone,I hear it takes longer to heat up than a cast-iron stove but radiate the heat for longer. Are they more ecnomical and worth the extra money

Soap stone is very big on the continent, it does retain the heat well and is a nice easy to keep finish, of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Most continental stoves are genuine wood burners not multi fuel units I suggest that you ensure that you have a good supply of wood with a moisture content at or below 20%.
