Hi,

I have been making enquiries into opening a small grocery shop close to the city centre on cork citys southside. I would be looking into going down the franchise route i.e costcutter, centra, spar and I have 2 potential retail units with close proximity to schools and a lot of footfall in the area. would anyone have experience of starting a venture like this or dealing with these franchisees? any help/advice is appreciated.

Cheers
corkfella.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RETAIL EXPERIENCE ? you should contact the relevent companies and tell them what you want to do ,see what they say.I think they favour people who have experience in the industry, but you could get arround this by asking to be let work in a branch to shadow the manager and learn all the aspects of running the business etc. If you have the cash to put up im sure they would evaluate the site and you and let you know the score.all they can say is no,but im sure you'll get a yes . Good Luck !
