I am 45 years old
Civil servant - 32K pa gross

Partner 50 years old
Civil servant - 45K pa gross
Children 6 and 8

Savings 110K Euros in total for me:
60K in Post Office 10 Year bonds
50K in various bank accounts for 2 to 5 years
Partner has undisclosed savings elsewhere

Mortgage paid on house value 250 K

Partner shares bills with me but keeps savings separate.

I have investment property worth 150K,
Mortgage 50 K
Income of 600 a month

I save about 400 a month.
I also save 100 a month in an Irish Life MAPS product.

Should I move some funds to other equity products to get a better return?
I am concerned that my earnings and potential to save are not high, so I cant afford to lose money.

These would be the first things I'd be checking out before going any further especially with two young children in the equation.

My partner has savings in the usual building societies. They are accounts where you leave funds there for x years and get a certain interest rate. He is secretive about the amount but I know he has about 80k anyway.

Be careful where you are investing, the amount you want to invest etc. Speak to a stockbroker, who will outline your options. Personally, I trade the US market, which is very fluid and cost effective.
