Self Build Rental Property and Mortgage Interest Relief

On a site gifted from parent, a house was self-built using various contractors, etc. Mortgage was taken out to build the house. House was lent out as an investment property.

Ignoring all other conditions, such as PRTB registration, etc, in computing the taxable rental income for the period, Revenue guidelines state that a tax deduction is available where a loan has been used to purchase, improve or repair a rented residential property.

Just to confirm that an interest deduction is available where funds are used to build/construct the rented property in addition to funds used to purchase, improve or repair.

Thanks
