A man lives in a house, alone, owned by his son, the son has given him, his father, a right of residence there.

If the father marries, and wants to live in the house with his wife, what becomes of the right of residence? and will his wife have any entitlements if he dies before her?

Thanks in advance for reading.

Does the right of residency specify that it is for life of the father?
If so he has that right for life.
Sometimes this right ( though in majority of cases it is the father giving the right to sons or daughters) would include the proviso that it is only until the son or daughter got married.
I dont believe the wife if she becomes a widow would have any right of residency.

Yes the right of residence is for the life of the father.
It’s an unusual situation, there’s a bigger picture involving other properties owned by father and son together.
There’s no dispute, the son just wants some clarification, as there was some suggestion the right of residence would be extinguished if the father marries ?

I think that usually the will/trust document would say right of residence until a certain age or until they got married. In the absence of a condition its for their life.
