by the end of the tax year i will have paid only 6 mth rent
190 * 6 = 1140 will i get tax back to the tune of 20% of 1140

how soon should i submit the rent relief form

have read documentation still am not sure if i will only qualify for half as i will have only paid half a year

Submit the form as soon as you can.

You get tax relief at 20% of rent paid, up to a limit of 254 tax credit.

i.e. tax relief is just on rent up to 1270.

So you will get 20% of 1140 = 228 tax credit

A new Tax Credit cert should issue to you and your employer, then your take-home pay should rise.
