My back fence backs onto a small estate . My house is approx 25 yrs old, the estate about 12 years. Approx 12 months ago the boundary wall on the estate collapsed and damaged my fence. My insurance co say that the estate management co is liable for the wall and consequent damage - the management co say that this is a joint wall and we should share the cost. From correspondence with a solicitor they have stated that I am not liable. The matter rests there ! no resolve Any opinions ?
 
Without seeing a plan of the two structures its difficult to say.

Say their wall was a separate wall and your fence was "inside it" and separate and not taking support from it.
Then it sounds as though someones wholly owned structure may have damaged your wholly owned structure.

If that is so, its possible he other party may be liable.
I think you would need a solicitor and someone like a chartered surveyor or architect to inspect, survey and swear the position in law and issue correspondence with the other side stating your position.
