A friend of mine is moving to Kilkenny soon (Thomastown area) and needs advice on good secondary schools in the kilkenny/waterford area for both her son and daughter. Everyone she has spoken to has recommended different schools! They are in fee-paying schools at the moment but she has no preference, she is just looking for schools that are strong on academics. Does anyone have any first hand experience or thoughts to pass on?

Hi well if shes Thomastown. I have heard good things about Grennan (sp?) College in thomastown and the secondry in Ballyhale which would be about 5 miles away. And they are both mixed schools so the son and daughter would not have to seperate.
Im from the city myself and there is 3 schools I would not like my daughter to go to but this does not have to do with the standard of education there. The only fee paying secondary school in Kilkenny city is a Church of Ireland run school which pretty much has the same level of education as the others.
I hope that is off some help and feel free to ask if you need anymore info.
