MAZDA 3 - Is it 1.4 or 1.6

How do I tell if prospective purchase is a 1.4 or 1.6 engine (05/06).
Distributor says you can`t tell.

If there's a tax disc in the window it'll show the car cc. Otherwise the vehicle registration cert should have the engine size.

or just ask?

4 door is generally 1.6, 5 dorr could be a 1.4.
