Hi

I'm on disability allowance and my husband is on job seekers allowance. We have savings of 30,000 and a site valued at 12,500 total 42500 capital . As we are on two separate payments the assessment is split 50% between us. I thought that 21250 would be assessed against each of us. So disability has 50,000 disregard and jobseekers 20,000 so dh will be assessed on 1250.

However our assessment shows that dh was assessed on 42500 showing means of 42Euro then it was halfed. So they are deducting 21 weekly.

Has anyone any information on this and how the 50% split is applied in cases like this. Thanks.

This seems a bit odd as the disregard for disability is 50,000.
Are the savings and site owned jointly?
Have you requested a copy of the calculation?

Hi the disregard for job seekers is 20000 but I thought our means would be added up then halfed then the amount would be worked out but it's calculated on the full amount then halfed at the end. It makes quite a difference
