Marine GPS/Chartplotter/Fishfinder

Anyone any experience in (recently) buying a GPS for their boat? Looking to buy a GPS that would ideally include mapping capabilities as well as a fishfinder? The boat is a 14 foot fishing boat so something portable would be ideal.

Any help appreciated.

Recently bought (last summer) a Garmin Fishfinder (240Blue) from Merlin Motor City ([broken link removed]).

For what it does as a fishfinder, it's perfect. Have a boat same size as yours and we've it rigged up to be semi-portable, i.e. removable when boat not in use.

As a product manufacturer, can definitely recommend Garmin (all products here - [broken link removed]), and had no problems at all with Merlin either.

How have you found fishing with one over the last year? Is it not a form of cheating? I'm grappling with the idea of buying one. I guess my query was more aimed at GPS sytems but your link has proved very helpful.
