Issued with divorce papers yet I was the one who started proceedings

I initiated divorce proceedings against my ex some months ago. My solicitor sent out a letter to my spouse; stating that I was looking for the marriage to end. Spouse did not respond to letter from my solicitor nor any follow up letter that demanded a reply.

Last week I was issued with divorce papers from my spouse??? Why is this the case if I was the one who started proceedings in the first place?

What difference does it make?

One person files the initiating Civil Bill and makes their claims. The other responds with their Defence and Counterclaim.

Whoever first files the Civil Bill is the one initiating the proceedings. Correspondence is just that.

Be thankful that its going somewhere, try and resolve matters and, if you can't do that, then file your own papers and get the case on for hearing.
