Is it possible to get unpaid rent via the courts?

Hi,

I've read a lot of stories over the years of the absolute pain of a bad tenant even where the landlord has to resort to pay them cash to leave and forgo the unpaid rent. In the case where someone did finally leave (without being paid) what is the path to reclaiming the unpaid rent?

Assume that the tenancy is registered, you open a case with the PRTB and they find in your favour / acknowledge the rent is not being paid. Is there a legal avenue for redress in the courts system and do they do things like earnings attachment orders? Would it be possible for a layperson who prepared to represent themselves? And are there cases where this has happened as it generally seems to be considered a lost cause.
