Hi all,

“Long time reader, first time poster.”
I have a quick question.
I received a €1,250 fine in the district court for the late filing of my personal tax returns, which have now been filed.
I am considering going bankrupt and I was wondering if this fine is covered by the bankruptcy or will it have to be paid regardless?
I noticed on the ISI website that "Court fines in respect of criminal offences" are not covered, but I am not sure if this is considered as a criminal offence.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

It is a criminal offence not to file tax returns.

You either pay the fine or go to jail in default.
