Incremental Credit - Public sector

Any idea how long on average (in months) a decision takes to grant/ not grant an incremental credit application to a new start in public sector who has had a gap of several years from leaving their previous public sector job.

If not granted I understand there's an appeals process. Whats the chances of a positive outcome from this? Whats/ who is involved?
 
I think that the Department where the new start is commencing work will need approval from DPER.

They should contact the Department's HR unit.
 
Too many variables to give any clear indication. The body involved, the competence and commitment of the individual working on it, the complexity of the issue, the merits of the case etc.

Public bodies generally don’t like to set precedents that can be potentially hopped on by others
 
Thanks for your replies. Its a public sector body not the civil service so hopefully no DPER involvement but I've kept it deliberately vague to anonymise the query.

HR dealing with it - just got to be patient and hope for the best!
