I have been reading this post with some interest, and amusement. I have got tired waiting for someone to pass the rather obvious comment , so here goes my own attempt.
I feel sorry for Paul , who has been " taken for a ride " , ( although not in the manner he may have expected ) by this lady.
I feel all he can do is write the incident off to experience . Involving the Guards may make the whole incident go public and his wife may discover the details.
As in hiring any tradesperson, it is safer to only pay a small deposit , before the service is completed to your satisfaction.
I this one of the most weird posts on AAM. It is indeed about Money but not what i expected to see on this site. On reflection it lightens up discussion from the usual topics of Mortgage problems and the like.Paul, the money is gone but a burden shared is a burden halved.
