How to get retirement relief & DIRT exemption?
I will soon be reaching 65 years of age. Do the Revenue Commissioners automatically apply retirement relief for the taxpayer or must I instruct the Revenue commissioners to do so on my behalf?
Also, I have been told that I will no longer be subject to DIRT tax on reaching 65. Do I need to write to my bank informing them when I turn 65 in order to avail off this exemption? In fact, is an exemption or a refund that applies in this case?
