So it is as safe as deposits in other financial institutions with the government guarantee.

I see David Mcwillaims is saying the guarantee should be recended when NAMA is set up ?

I have fixed deposit in BOI for a year based on the guarantee, will it be safe then ?

The current guarantee will remain in place until sep 2010. There is speculation that it will be extended but there has been no confirmation yet. Does your deposit mature before Sep 2010? if yes then it is guaranteed.
