Housing association and entitlements to VAT refunds for build

Hi

Does anyone know if we can claim VAT back for building our houses? There's 27 of us and we purchased private sites from the council. We formed a limited company and are VAT registered. We went to tender and got the houses built but now we want to know can we claim VAT back on the build and any of our legal fees etc?

I would really appreciate if somebody could answer this for.
 
I believe the ability to claim vat back on residential ran out after the last budget around May of this year. Have a search around the site and you will see a few threads on this. sorry.
