one of the familys house got broken into before xmas and the back door was damaged. The door company gave them a quote to have the door replaced. This was submitted to the insurance company and they paid out on the amount ex vat. The insurance people said to submit a claim for the vat when the work was complete.
Now the door company say as the're only replacing the door not the frame and other jobs theyd do on a complete new fitting that the bill including vat will be lower than the quote.
so what im wondering is, can the person not bother claiming on the vat and if they dont will the insurance company look to see was the work completed . The door company wont issue a higher receipt understandbly
any advice appreciated
